The role of fate in ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ impacts on the overall tone and level of emotion evidenced in the ending. Fate is where people believe something happens for a reason and that their destiny is planned and everything is inevitable. Others however, believe the future is controlled by a person’s own actions. All throughout the play it seemed that fate did not allow Romeo and Juliet to be together. However, Romeo and Juliet rebel against their fate and tried to re-write their own destiny. This poor choice ultimately destroyed both of their lives. In the end, fate had its way.
