The Progressive Era
The progressive movement began to emerge in the late 1800’s. It was a time for change in America as well as a time for reform. The main beliefs of progressives were social cohesion, organization and efficiency, and antimonopoly (Brinkley 629). They felt that society was definitely capable of improvement. However, some changes that should have been made were not. Unions were still looked down upon, and people were still getting paid very low wages after working long tedious hours. Despite those flaws, the progressive movement made vast advances in society and has paved the way for future equality.
