…showed last 75 words of 1079 total…her last line (V,iii,7), Cordelia speaks of "these sisters," as though they were of no relation to her. She is, in fact, largely a matter of function, helping Lear to see his evil, and keeping him from harm as long as she is able. Her's is a morality for morality's sake. The reward for her sacrifice, had Shakespeare intended one, lies in the viewer's and in Lear's knowledge that good, however rare, does exist.
