Let’s say you are struggling through one of life’s many pitches. Your having a hard time handling the situation, so naturally you turn to your family. At once your burden becomes lighter as the struggle continues with the help from your loved ones.
What about millions of readers and viewers? Can a family’s struggle through life’s difficulties really be enough to base a news story on? Shows like 60 Minutes

As you can see, sensationalism and human-interest stories are taking over our news programs and dominating our newsmagazines. Squires was totally on the ball when he said that, “ Much of real journalism establishment has been swallowed up by the entertainment industry.” (769). News is no longer just important information, it contains all the elements of a dramatic soap opera as well. As the sickeningly truthful saying goes “ if it bleeds it leads.”
