Yellow Wallpaper

In the story “Yellow Wallpaper” we see the main character, a woman who is struggling and in torment driven to insanity by her loving husband. Her husband who is a doctor thinks that the best cure for her is rest. His belief of what rest is, is very similar to Dr. Silasweir Mitchell. They also need to be around people to feel love and comfort. To lock a woman down and keep her from the world we live in is torture. No woman can survive in a life controlled by men. They need their independence to survive.
