In December of 1983,my mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer. The suspicion of cancer initiated with a routine Pap smear by our family doctor and she was directed to a gynecologist. Under local anesthesia, he performed a biopsy, which in fact detected cancerous cells in her cervix. It was unclear whether or not it had spread beyond the cervix, so my mother was recommended

As I mentioned before, issues of women’s health cannot be understood only on biological terms. Social conditions directly affect our health. We must constantly question the social forces that continue to create vast inequalities in h!
