In modern correctional institutions the United States holds the worlds largest incarceration rate. In recent years the percentage increase in women incarcerated has grown much faster. Thus causing increasing concerns in society for the problems of women and the problems of prisoners. Unfortunately these concerns have rarely been a focus. neglect, abuse, and obvious de-socialization that occurs within the correctional system for women, it is no wonder that the recidivism rates get higher every year. If more time was taken into providing equal correction opportunities congruent with those of the male systems, I feel women within the institution would have a better chance in the outside world. Hopefully I have given a well-rounded view into the social and legal deprivations of the women’s system.
