Wilson now had solved his problem. The United States was no longer intervening officially on anti-Bolshevik terms; they were invading on behalf of the Czechs. Not only that, but as per Wilson’s statement, they were intervening in order to help Russia towards a self-determined government, something that Wilson feared he would have to compromise with intervention. Wilson accomplished only by virtue of his incredible patience and political savvy.
