The Necklace In the story The Necklace, by Guy de Maupassant, the things I liked best were the characters, the setting and the irony. The story was about an unhappy woman named Madame Louisel and with the great life she was offered. Then she and her husband were invited to a distinguished party. …showed last 75 words of 375 total…paid dearly for it. She spent the rest of her life paying off the debt of the necklace, instead of revealing the true facts. In the end she realized by her not telling the truth, her life’s work was used to pay off a disingenuous necklace. In conclusion, The Necklace presented a good cast of characters, a great setting, and an ironic plot. All these facets made this story an enjoyable read to me.
