In the short story “The Man Who Killed A Shadow,” by Richard Wright the main character, Saul, shows his feeling of being powerless towards the white shadow. Even though Saul will be punished for his crime he will be better and that is all that matters to him. After he stood up for himself, Saul no longer had to hide from his fears.
