(NEXT SLIDE) The 1950¡¦s saw the rise of the ¡§traditional¡¨ nuclear family, illustrated in television shows like ¡§Ozzie and Harriet¡¨ and ¡§Leave it to Beaver¡¨. These families redefined society¡¦s notions of the household and led to the mistaken view that the ¡¥nuclear family¡¦ is the norm. …showed last 75 words of 2036 total…other, the only difference being that with the nuclear family came the breakdown of relations with the extended family. Thus, children have been left with no-one inside the family to turn to about abuse or neglect for the past fifty years. Personally, I welcome the meltdown of the Nuclear family and the re-establishment of connections with meddlesome, sometimes annoying extended relations for it is only through this process that child-rearing can perhaps be improved upon.
