It was a windy day in late September with the first traces of autumn just beginning to pull the golden brown leaves from the aspens. As I sauntered towards the café I found myself thinking about the stark realities of life in this strange yet beautiful land. Passing a man who smelled of alcohol and piss, I tossed several coins into his box, which elicited a blessing, or possibly a curse, in a foreign tongue.

walkway rustled slightly as the gentle wind lifted several strands of her dark hair.
We walked. Sometime during the course of the afternoon she grabbed my hand to keep me from being hit by an oncoming car and so we remained, walking hand in hand, oblivious to time. I learned so much that afternoon about myself, about the true meaning of contentment and I found that love is something deeper than I had ever imagined.
