world. The US’ entrance into NATO was also an action that may have aided in completing the Cold War without any shots fired. The arms race that the US and Russia were involved in ended only because the Russian economy couldn’t keep up with the Capitalist juggernaut that was the United States. All in all, the actions taken by the United States were responsible in that we kept from starting another war.
