The Canterbury tales: Our time versus Chaucers time

Geoffrey Chaucer wrote “The Canterbury Tales” in the 1300’s. During this period life was very different from the one that we know. The most obvious difference represented in the tales is the power that religion has over peoples everyday lives as compared to today. The lives that people led and their views of society differ greatly from today. The Church was the center of the universe and influenced every aspect of daily life. The traditional lifestyle that they found fitting no longer is seen to be desirable. It is now a time for equality and prosperity no matter what gender or status.
