In this essay I am going to explore the way that Shakespeare has written the play ‘Hamlet’ and also the devices he uses to create suspense. I will also try and analyse the dramatic impact the linguistic style and the devices have on an audience watching or reading the play.
Throughout the play, Shakespeare demonstrates the many qualities that Hamlet has. He demonstrates Hamlet as an intellectual character that uses words to fight his enemies.

Shakespeare uses soliloquies, metaphorical language, imagery and irony all to his advantage in order to device the play Hamlet in a way that the audience feel the suspense, the humour and the sympathy with the characters on the stage.
Hamlet is a play about honour, love and revenge. These are the three reasons that the play Hamlet is based on and the very reason Hamlet did what he had to do.
