Sullivan’s Travels
The Great Depression was a time when American’s were lost economically, and emotionally, and many movies have been made in an attempt to capture the horrors of life in that time. The film Sullivan’s Travels however is in my opinion satirizes the Depression. It inaccurately depicts the tribulations of the 1940’s and is useless in its historical account. The value in this movie lays in entertainment, and in nothing else.

Sullivan as he acted to suffer that we became unaware with the lives of those who were not acting.
Despite the inaccuracies of this movie and the poor execution of an attempt to document history, it probably had no intention to be used as a historical narrative. Indeed, not every movie must serve a historical purpose, but the movie in itself attempted to convey the Depression to the audience, and it failed in doing so.
