They are thinking about how the teachers used to be. I feel that after thinking about school and how they weren’t very popular that the speaker and his friend get frustrated and start kicking the walls and slamming chairs against other chairs even after they felt bad for wrecking the house earlier. They decide to go outside and lay in the leaves to cool off and think about more important things then being popular.
