Radium, one of the most radioactive elements on the periodic table, discovered by the famous Marie Curie, and used for treating cancer are some of the reasons why radium is a very well known element. I believe that it is one of the most interesting elements, although it is the only one I’ve studied.
Radium was discovered by Marie Curie, Pierre Curie, and their assistant. They discovered it by crystallizing an ore called Pitchblende,

cancer patients, radiation therapy. It also was used for luminous (glow-in-the-dark) paint. (Radium, when in dense quantities glowed in the dark). Some time after that use, it was discovered that Radium was radioactive after many of the workers got sick and died.
As you can tell, Radium is a very interesting element, with how it is separated, who it was discovered by, it’s radioactivity and where the radiation goes, and it’s ill-fated use.
