At the beginning of 1640 Prussia was an insignificant, un-unified territory. Still feeling the effects of the Thirty Years War, and population reduction through death disease, and emigration. With the help of Frederick William, and his predecessors Prussia became a powerful force in Europe through its military, political, and social standing.
