Today the office of the United States President is considered the most powerful elected position in the world. Unfortunately it was not always so powerful. In 1789 the United State was a nation of only four million people. It had a new and untried government and also it had an agricultural economy and a tiny army and navy. Today the United States is a fine industrial nation with one of the largest forces in the world.

Roosevelt and William H. Taft responded to public demands for honest and efficient government. President has many responsibilities and also has power. He has to make decisions and decide what would be the best decision for the State and the people.
