“Beauty”, it’s in our face every time we turn on the television set or flip though the pages of magazines. Day after day, hour after hour, minute after minute, our minds are being filled with images of beautiful people. The recent emphasis on fitness, youth, beauty and thinness has caused many women to try harder than ever to attain the current body ideal. Why do women become dissatisfied, self-critical, and judgmental about their bodies?

is always something about our bodies that we would like to change, whether it’s our height, weight, body shape, etc. More and more women are letting their outer appearances rule their lives while throwing away their inner qualities. If the pressures that society portray would stop focusing so much attention on physical beauty and focus more on inner beauty, maybe then would we look in the mirror and see the person we truly are.
