Recently, I had read an article in The New City newspaper entitled, “Poverty is really a matter of choice”. I found the article to be quite deceptive. Actually, I was dazed at the editor’s justification concerning that poverty was a matter of choice. Solomon, in his brief anecdotes about his “poor” deprived friends was in fact, far from living in poverty. Also, in his next argument using the U.S and Canada’s statistics,

become harder and harder to climb up the scale. Since nuns didn’t take vows of poverty because they wanted to live in poverty, but because of that fact that they had to in order to become a nun, and artists didn’t become artists so that they can starve in their garrets. Since no one essentially wants to choose to live a life in poverty, I strongly believe that poverty is not a choice.
