About 200 Years ago Pearl Harbor was a little inlet not even known to man. Now Oahu, one of the little islands of Hawaii, is the biggest military command on earth. In 1891 President Harrison wanted to convince Congress that Pearl Harbor would be a successful Naval establishment. The US was presently making ships and needed a place to put them. In 1894, the Navy sent surveyors to check out Pearl Harbor. They found out that it would be easy to dredge the entrance to Pearl Harbor.
