Odysseus and his men came to an island where Cyclopes, giants, and louts livedin caves. They saw a Cyclops that slept in a cave alone and took his flocks to graze. Odysseus took twelve of his best men and went ahead to the Cyclopes’ cave with a goatskin full of liquor. The men looked around the Cyclops cave and asked Odysseus to take the cheeses and then come back for the sheep but Odysseus refused,

hide under so that they could escape unnoticed. They got into the open and took the sheep to the ship. Odysseus called back to the Cyclops and he picked up a boulder and threw it at Odysseus. The Cyclops yelled at Odysseus and prayed to his father, Poseidon, to never allow Odysseus and his crew to return home. The men left and ate the flock while Zeus had some plans of his own for them.
