Malcolm X Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska to his parents Earl and Louise Little. Louise and Earl met in Montreal. They soon later fell in love and got married. Earl was a Baptist minister and organizer for Marcus Garvey, who wanted that all African-Americans go back to the land of their ancestors, Africa. Louise bore him six children. During his lifetime, Malcolm X was modestly famous, but after his death he became an icon. The key event in this process was the publication of his autobiography in late 1965. Today the book his read throughout schools across the country, and stands as one of Malcolm’s most enduring legacies.
