People are determined to find a way to categorize books as
great or not. It is impossible to come up with a set of
guidelines and requirements that will enable us to dub a
book as great. Everyone’s view point is different. We have
brought up the considerations of the book serving its
purpose, and how important that purpose is. For a book to

Lolita is a great book to me because it places
common situations in a new light. It made me walk away
thinking about the book long after I finished reading it.
And if you stripped away all metaphors and societal
comparisons, I would still consider it a great book because
of the story alone. Maybe we are not meant to judge
literature by greatness, but people will nevertheless
continue to try.
