Kongzi, Laozi, Han Feizi each had very separate ideas and ideals for the greatest ruler. Whether the ruler gain control through trust, being unseen but assertive or through force, rulers must know how to keep their people in line.
Kongzi believed in maintaining control by having the people of a rulers land be able to trust a ruler. In document 1 Kongzi says instead of sacrificing people’s trust first sacrifice parts of military and food.

document 5 Han Feizi believes harsh punishment is essential but in document 1 Kongzi believes that that ruler should be trusted and when a ruler is killing people left and right there can never be trust between the ruler and the people.
According to these people a ruler can take control over his people in many different forms or approaches. These three philosophers approaches are only a few of many approaches that may still be used today.
