that would be able to protect itself. "Join or Die," was obviously not the reason why the colonists eventually decided to unite, but it in a very simple manner, it states what needed to be done. Franklin's main objective was to get people to come together, which was ultimately what happened and along with this came a new found pride within the people, knowing that they were united and a force to be reckoned with.
