Is Justice a Commidity

IS JUSTICE A COMMODITY? The topic of an unequal, almost a binary system of justice for those able to afford private counsel and those who cannot, is not a new subject. The fact that nationwide, almost 75% of inmates in state prisons, and 58% of defendendants sentenced to prison in the Harris County court system relied on a publicly provided attorney warrants further inquiry. If being accused of a crime, you rely on your constitutional right to legal representation and that is equivalent to a conviction, is democracy then subverted? Is their justice for an individual who’ s real crime is not having an extra $5,000 dollars. No, that is not justice by definition that is being a casualty of free enterprise.
