After Federation in 1901, the Immigration Restriction Act was introduced and was the second act of the newly formed Commonwealth Government. Australian Identity has changed considerably since federation in 1901, where Australians saw other races to be inferior and 'undesirable as immigrants'. The views and values that Australians retain today are vastly different from those of early Australians. These views have evolved over time and immigration has influenced them by introducing new cultural ideas.
