“Hans Holbein the Younger, is the son of Hans Holbein the Elder. Born in 1497 he was an outstanding portrait and religious painter of the Northern Renaissance, he was mostly influenced by his father. He spent most of his life in Basel. He showed his talent in designing woodcuts and glass painting.”

Erasmus of Rotterdam. Erasmus became his good friend and sent Holbein to England, where he became famous for portraits and drawings. One his other famous paintings is The Ambassadors.
Holbein was one of the best painters and draftsman of all time. In Basel, from 1528 to 1532, Holbein continued his important work for the town council. The portrait of Holbeins wife and two sons are one of his best portraits ever made, (in my opinion ) .
