When reading a piece of literature, one can most always see recurring themes, ideas, characters and underlying messages. Winston tries to do all the things that we take for granted and is crushed. This is the most effective and eye opening ideas in the book. It gives us a new respect for our individual rights and freedoms and shows the true importance of thought; something that one should never be deprived of.
