Flatland

Flatland This must have been the most interesting book I have read. I found it very easy to visualize the many descriptions and most of the time I understood what the author was trying to say before he described them in detail. What’s interesting to me is the fact that this book, even though it is science fiction, captures human stubbornness and inequity. We are so close minded to new things. Just like the square (narrator) finally opened his mind to a new reality, tried to educate others, and was persecuted and jailed for it, Galileo and other scientists went through the same thing. The great thing about this book is that the author boldly portrayed aspects of his society that many people didn’t talk about. Things were just accepted because if they weren’t there would probably be many rebellions, which there were.
