Expansionism
During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, the United States of America went through a period of expansion. With thoughts of being the superior race, Americans wanted to become the model country, and have all others follow in their ways. Several ripe and fertile areas of the world became their foreign targets. Latin America, the Philippines, the Panama Canal, and sections of Asia were areas much desired by Americans. America began to expand itself once again. By trekking into foreign lands, crossing all 7 oceans and even creating a canal, America allowed itself to become the supreme country of the world. After working with trade in Asia, China and Japan, America attempted to gain control in countries in Latin and Central America. As time went by, through the late 1800’s and the early 1900’s, America expanded its borders, and became the “City on a Hill.”
