Museum Assignment
While touring the Baltimore Museum of Art one particular piece caught my immediate attention. The painting is entitled “Evening Glow” and was painted in 1972 by Alma Thomas, a renowned African American woman with a lifetime of achievement in painting and teaching art.

it’s true message. Perhaps it is an abstract representation of a reflecting pond or a brilliant sky. I happen to believe it is a flash of memory for Thomas, a combination of color to symbolize her love of nature. Whatever it’s intention may be, Evening Glow is a masterpiece of shimmering color. My intention was to choose a painting that genuinely intrigued me and I feel Evening Glow does just that.
