LANGUAGE SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE In American society language is constantly operated for political intentions. Language cannot be studied without getting involved in social issues. Language of a culture can enable you to learn ones values and beliefs. This is evident considering the power of words. The power of words often comes from its suggestion and situation rather than it’s dictionary definition. The government would like to believe that to pass a law is to change behavior; but passing laws about language, in a free society almost never changes attitude or behavior. According to the 1990 census, 94 percent of American residents speak English anyway. There is hope for language tolerance.
