Although the Electoral College has been in effect since the United States formed the Constitution, I think it should be abolished. The Electoral College has been the source for nine too-close-to-call elections. As Al Gore had said, “every vote should count” and with the Electoral College in effect, every vote doesn’t count.

The Electoral College takes away the right for individual votes to be heard; instead, one person speaks for everyone. The Electoral College is like putting a limit on democracy, a government by the people, not by representatives for the people. There should be more to an election than “winning” a state, it should be about whom the majority of people want to be their president.
