Dorothy Parker-Resume-Symptom

Can one find happiness in a solution of death? Throughout two poems this question is pondered. The solution of death not only pertains to the ending of ones’ physical life, but that if their emotional being. Dorothy Parker’s poems “Resume” and “Symptom Recital” express these themes through its words. The first theme, death is not always a solution, is evident in both poems. …showed last 75 words of 1264 total…the speakers. As the speaker voices how to end one’s life, the speaker realizes that it is not a good idea. While in “Symptom Recital,” the speaker communicates the idea that she hates herself and her life, but while Barton 5 stating all of this, she too realizes that it is not the end of the world and that she will find someone else. Both poems are suicidal in thought, but backed by common sense.
