Demonic Child In Hawthorne’s novel the Scarlet Letter the character Pearl is the product of sin. Everyone in town thought of pearl as abnormal, unnatural, a demon child, and a symbol of adultery committed by her mother Hester Prynne and Father Dimmsdale (which people did not know of yet).
