This economy of settings gives urgency to, rather than distracting from, the desire of the audience to achieve a happy ending for Hero. The play is effective on the stage as much of the plot is about noting, spying, observing, eavesdropping and misconception. The “Ado” in the title Much Ado About Nothing refers to the central misconception of the play when Claudio refers to Hero’s alleged unfaithfulness.
