a free man. Even as a free man, he experienced racial problems; however, he became one of the most well known African American abolitionists. All the documents pertain directly related to that of Frederick’s life as a slave and actions to overcome the hardships of being an African American. So even after finding a little inspiration in some of the documents, there were certain ones that also discouraged Frederick from finding freedom in America.
