The reading Black Women and Motherhood, by Patricia hill Collins was like hearing about a different culture. The way black communities raise their families and work with each other is very different and unique than what I’m used to, and is no where near that of a traditional family. In reading this essay I found that their were two basic points brought up by Collins.

full time, and the rest of the family was always on the go. We rarely ate together, and began to pursuit our own personal interests. This wasn’t a bad thing that happened, it’s just the way we’ve grown with our society. Everything changes eventually whether we want it to or not. Soon our new family styles will be considered traditional in the generations to come. It’s just the way things work.
