In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, time is of great importance. The story attempts to follow Sethe’s journey through her past and helps her to come to terms with it. For former slaves who were denied a family structure, the opportunity to have one is immense. In order to do so, the past has to be behind everyone and accepted, and the future will clearly come in view.
