Anne Moody's "Coming of Age in Mississippi" was altogether insightful into the life of an African-American raised in the deep south during the civil rights movement. It gave us a look at what many sacrificed in order to achieve civil rights for all. I believe this book achieved its goal of telling of one woman's struggle for her basic rights in a hostile environment.

true equality, I think Anne Moody feels the hate crimes and prejudices need to come to an end. Which is something that really wasn’t happening very fast in the south. By the end of the book, I don’t think Anne really believes equality will become a reality. While she will always hope for it to become a reality, I really think she holds little faith in it by the end of the book.
