The idea of a revolution came from Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto that he wrote with Fredrick Engels. It was 1924 when Vladimir Lenin died and left Trotsky alone to lead the Russian people. The novel is, as was previously stated, a comparison to actual historical fact. When George Orwell wrote the novel Animal Farm, he wrote it as a satire. He chose animals to portray the figures in the novel to show how people can sometimes become a little animalistic when involved in a revolution.
