The “speaker” of the poem is a really upset son, which is trying to tell his father to fight death and never give up. The poem is a conversation or a monologue in which only the speaker which we can suppose is Thomas communicate to us about his thoughts and feellings about death. ideas and the comparison between different kinds of people is what leads us to the main theme, death. Thomas is trying to communicate with this poem to his father and all of us to live life to the fullest. To never give up, because you only have one life, and when it´s over you will regret it. He is saying that we should all learn to survive, fight for ourselves no matter the circumstances.
