Affirmative Action
Affirmative action, as defined by Schaefer, is “positive efforts to recruit subordinate group members including women for jobs, promotions, and educational opportunities.” (Schaefer, pg. 503) Whereas, discrimination is primarily related to “the denial of opportunities and equal rights,” of minorities rather than the attempts to include minorities. (pg. 504)

and in the kitchen taking care of the males, which were doing the manual labor. The man's place was outside doing labor that is more physical. Today there is no reason for these kinds of practices. Women and minorities can be trained just as easily as white men to operate the machinery. If I am ever in the position to hire women or minorities, I will attempt to use affirmative action procedures to avoid discrimination.
