After reading John Locke’s The Second Treatise of Government chapters five and six, there are many important ideas and viewpoints that deal with property and paternal power. Although I wasn’t aware of it through reading the articles, but by seeing the notes at the bottom it is clear that Locke spent a great deal of time reaffirming and negating ideas that other people had come up with. Locke’s discussion “of Property,” and “of Paternal Power” is extremely thorough and undoubtedly gives credit to those previous ideas that he agrees with and negates those with which he doesn’t concur.
